Tibet lies in central Asia with majority of Tibetan population. It lies in highest altitude with Mount Everest on its side which offers the good chance to reach to the base camp. Tibet is famous for the bounty of natural and cultural richness and is also called the forbidden kingdom. The Tibetan land is beautified by exotic mountainous peaks, river, lakes and ancient cultural monasteries. Tibetan people believe in spirituality and follow Buddhist culture and philosophy. Diverse climatic condition is found in Tibet ranging from extreme hot to intense cold.
The major highlight of this tour is visiting the grand Potala Palace of Dalai Lama. This will be a driving tour and we expect to visit many places in the short time available. You will also get chance to explore many other temples and monasteries. You will be enjoying the beauty of waterfalls, rivers and lakes along the way. We will be spending 2 days at Lhasa to explore the region in some depth. In this trek you will reach up to the Everest Base Camp from Tibet. This is one of the unique experiences you will have. Fly from Lhasa to Kathmandu
Today we will fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa. The flight offers the wonderful view of mountainous beauty with great sights around. We will then land at Gonggar airport at Lhasa. Our Tibetan guide will be there to receive us. You will then be driven to the hotel where you will get time to rest. Night at the hotel.
Today we will be spending the day exploring the most famous sites in Lhasa. We will begin our tour with the visit to Sera Monastery, one of the famous monasteries in Lhasa. Lhasa is known for number of temples and monasteries that have unique architecture and design. We will also be visiting Norbulingka which is the summer palace of Dalai Lama. There is also the most sacred temple for Tibetan Buddhists called Jokhang temple. We will explore the temple area and continue our tour. We will conclude our day’s exploration with a visit to Barkhor market and return to the hotel for the night’s stay.
We will continue our exploration of Lhasa today as well. We will be visiting the famous Potala palace of Dalai Lama. The palace was built in 17th Century and thus has the historical significance. It is situated in a height from where the entire city can be viewed. The palace is huge and built in extravagant style and unique design. It also has private quarter of Dalai Lama. We will then visit the Drepung monastery. The monastery was built in 14th Century to shelter the monks. Around 10,000 monks used to live in the monastery but now the number is declining. It is largest Tibetan monastery which has the religious and historical significance.
We will drive from Lhasa to Khampa La pass. We will enjoy the great sight of surrounding mountain peaks during the journey. After the brief stop we will again continue the drive along the traditional village area and shortly come across Yamdrok Lake. We will stop here for the rest and enjoy our time for some time. The view of lake and the surrounding grassland is quite amazing. We will then head towards Karo La Pass that lies above 5000m. From the pass the amazing sight of mountain peak in the background can be viewed. After that we will head to the hotel at Gyangtse for the night stay.
Today we will be visiting different cultural and historical sites around Gyangtse and head to Shigatse at the end of the day. We will begin the trip with the visit to Palkhor Code monastery. The monastery depicts mysterious historical artifacts. Also, we will be exploring around the Kumbum stupa. After that we will head towards Gyangtse fort and spend some time there. We will then move along Nying Chung valley and finally reach Shigatse where we will be spending the night.
Today we will be spending our time visiting the monasteries around Sakya and Shegar. First, we will head towards Sakya. There we will roam around the market area for some time and then visit the Tashilunpo monastery. We will then leave Sakya and on the way we will stop to visit the famous Sakya monastery. After that the next stop on our journey would be Shegar. We will stay at the hotel there.
Today is the big day for us and reaching the Everest Base Camp is our target for the day. We will drive along the Qomolangma National Park area and stop at Rhongphu Gompa. After spending some time exploring around and enjoying the surrounding view of mighty peaks we will head towards Everest Base Camp. We will hike to the base camp. Once at the base camp we will enjoy our time together and take snaps. We will take in the beauty around and return back to Shegar. We will stay at Shegar for the night.
After breakfast we will leave Shegar and head towards Lhasa. We will drive along the highway and enjoy the views around. After the long drive we will finally reach Lhasa. We will then get to the hotel and take rest. Night will be spent at Lhasa and we will prepare for flying back to Kathmandu tomorrow.
We will catch an early flight from Lhasa to Kathmandu. We will get the final view of gigantic snowy peaks and the stretching range of Himalayan beauty. After the scenic flight we will land at the airport in Kathmandu. Then you will be driven to the hotel and get a nice rest. At the evening you might stroll around the city. Night at the hotel.
